Our strategy
Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement is important in improving both the quality and relevance of research delivered. The NIHR HRC-DDR’s PPIE work will align with the UK Standards for Public Involvement and a strategy will be co-developed with PPIE partners and aligned with local infrastructure. PPIE members will also be involved in the governance of the NIHR HRC-DDR.
A core HRC PPIE group will bring together a diverse membership to shape research priorities, develop PPIE plans and inform research design. We will work with a diverse network of patients, public, and stakeholders to develop accessible Health Technology which addresses local and national healthcare priorities. We will continue to support industry by engaging with patients and the public throughout the development of technologies, ensuring that HealthTech design, function and purpose is informed by their perspectives and experiences. The NIHR HRC-DDR will develop training packages for both patients and the public, and industry and clinical partners, enabling informed and non-tokenistic involvement and engagement.
