Bio
Zainab has joined the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) as a health economist. She will work with the team to generate economic evidence that supports the development, evaluation, and implementation of newly developed health technologies. The work will involve conducting early model-based economic analysis to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of newly developed interventions compared to existing alternatives. These economic models can identify gaps in the available data and predict the factors that will influence decisions on funding and the adoption or implementation within the health system.
Zainab holds a BSc (Pharmacy) from Jordan and an MSc in Health Economics and Health Policy from the University of Birmingham. She is a Research Fellow at the Health Economics Unit, University of Birmingham. She worked on a number of health economic analyses alongside clinical trials in different disease areas. Her research focuses on the economic evaluation of health care technologies and interventions in the UK as well as LMICs. These projects have included trial-based analyses of interventions for liver cirrhosis, osteoarthritis, atrial fibrillation, Parkinson’s disease, and chronic limb ischemia. She also developed an interactive model for early cardiovascular event detection.
